How the Saudi Work Visa Process Works for Employees From Any Country
Bringing an employee to Saudi Arabia follows the same main stages whatever country they come from. Knowing the order helps you plan start dates and avoid delays.
1. Visa approval for the employer
The sponsoring employer requests the work visa through the government platforms. The request must match the job title and the employer's records in Qiwa.
2. Documents and checks in the home country
The employee prepares their passport, qualifications and any required attestations, and completes the medical check. Some countries and professions have extra steps, so requirements vary by nationality and role.
3. Visa stamping and travel
Once the documents are approved, the visa is issued and the employee can travel to the Kingdom to start work.
4. Arrival, iqama and registration
After arrival the employee completes the local steps needed for the iqama (residence permit), and the employer registers them for GOSI, medical insurance and payroll.
- Iqama issuance through Muqeem
- Medical insurance cover
- GOSI registration
- Payroll set up through Mudad
